How did thid contest get started?
A few of us were talking about how most of the New England states have a long coyote season and most have a night hunt season during the part of the year that there is not much of anything else going on, except of course, ice fishing.
We came up with the idea of a coyote hunt contest.
The Lebanon Country Store and Jay Wagner were the first two sponsors to get things going.
Steve Beckwith, from Beckwith Associates fame, was asked to get involved and he jumped right in, not only donating a prize, but created a web site for the contest. Check out his site on the link below.
Dennis Therialt, from Therialt Taxidermy in Sanford was asked to get involved and he too, jumped in offering a prize as well as registering hunters and weighing their coyotes.
This year is off to a good start and we hope to continue having this contest and watch it grow each year.
